Food for Thought - Taking the Wheat to the Mill

Autumn Comes to Boris Gardens

Before I continue with the wheat story - must mark the changing of the seasons. Yesterday we set the clocks back so it’s not so dark in the mornings now - still it doesn’t seem like winter yet.

In fact, the trees in the Boris Gardens across the road are only now turning from green to red and gold.

Then the leaves will fall and all the are twigs will point up to the sky.

But back to the wheat.

We were a bit wary this year as last year’s wheat was not fit for human consumption so we decided to take only half of our agreed amount so that we could test it out so to speak.

It’s quite an effort to load these sacks as they weigh about 50 kilos each but finally we got them in the car.

Here they are!

So the next step is take it to the mill.

Unfortunately we don’t have the phone number - must get it - so we don’t know if the mill is working yet.

I’ll keep you posted.
