About John Rocha

I’m British and have over the years followed a number of different careers mainly as a writer, educator and photographer.

So you may well ask why should I be interested in Bulgaria?

Well, it’s a little strange to me too really. I first came here almost 20 years ago and as happens, I met the woman who is now my wife and we have settled here.

She’s Bulgarian of course and is quick to point out if I get things badly wrong.

Still I feel I can justify having the point of view of a foreign resident

myself and Bulgaria is changing fast some ways for the good, some not so good as happens everywhere.

Our son, Alexander, is 11 at the moment and has some pretensions to being a maths whiz.

How far this will go it’s early to say.

Anyway, I felt that my knowledge of life in Bulgaria might be of some interest as so many people have contacted me asking me how things are here today.
